Windows users who want to try out Linux without leaving your beloved OS pay attention:
“Wubi is an unofficial Ubuntu installer for Windows users that will bring you into the Linux world with a few clicks. Wubi allows you to install and uninstall Ubuntu as any other application. If you heard about Linux and Ubuntu, if you wanted to try them but you were afraid, this is for you.”
Wubi is great if you want to delve into the Linux world without having to re-partition your disk, or worry about conflicting boot loaders. Wubi actually runs INSIDE of Windows on a virtual disk. So basically when you are running the Wubi installation of Ubuntu, you are actually running it on the same partition as your Windows drive. This is a great way to try out Linux, and offers a little bit more functionality than a LiveCD. If you like Ubuntu, you can decide to let it run inside your Windows partition, or for those about to rock – you can pop in your LiveCD and use the installer to run it on a separate partition (recommended).
